The campus is in a quiet setting in the woods and has a great view of the gorge, which looks amazing in the fall. At the same time, you can be in downtown Erie in minutes and have all the benefits of the small city, including dance clubs, restaurants, movie theaters, malls, etc.
While growing up, Pat Carver had always been a big fan of Penn State, and although he had always wanted to attend Penn State he was not interested in going to a large university.
“When I started to look at Behrend I was attracted to the small setting but still being able to get the Penn State degree,” he said. “I came up for an open house and loved the campus’s setting in the woods.”
As a Penn State honors student, the professor who has influenced Pat the most was Dr. John Gamble, professor of political science and international law and the honors coordinator. Dr. Gamble and Pat have worked on together on research and in the classroom.
“He has been the biggest helper in developing my writing abilities in college,” Pat said. “He is also completely honest with me in my abilities and weaknesses and has helped me get situated to start a thesis for the Scholars program.”
Would Pat attend Behrend again, if given the chance?
“Yes,” Pat said. “This has been one of the most positive experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve met so many great people and have a ton of opportunities.”
