American Chemical Society Approval Secured

In May 2001, the American Chemical Society informed Penn State Erie that it has officially sanctioned the college's chemistry program with ACS approval. With this certification, the chemistry program joins over 600 chemistry programs in colleges and universities in the United States that are ACS-approved.

Approval followed an extensive review of the chemistry program's courses, research, faculty, students, and graduates. The extra rigor and additional requirements of the certified degree are valued by potential employers and graduate schools. For the student, a certified degree in chemistry is a valuable personal credential that serves as national-level recognition for successfully completing a rigorous academic chemistry curriculum in an ACS-approved department.
