His presentation, part of the college's annual Speaker Series, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Samuel P. “Pat” Black III Conference Center on the first floor of Penn State Behrend's Research and Economic Development Center (REDC). Parking will be available in the REDC deck on Technology Drive and in the Junker Center parking lots.
Admission is free and the presentation is open to the public.
Replogle is the driving force behind the explosive growth and success of Burt's Bees' “hive,” as employees call themselves. Under his leadership, the company has experienced double-digit growth while maintaining its steadfast mission as a socially responsible, sustainable business promoting the greater good. A staunch believer in the “triple bottom line of people, planet and profits,” John Replogle says he has made it his mission to encourage sustainable practices in companies around the globe. “Twenty-first century businesses will not survive without commitment to the environment,” he notes. “Burt's Bees proves that going green is a huge source of competitive advantage in the business world.
“Yes, there are challenges but the potential upside is tremendous,” Replogle adds. “As global awareness of environmental issues continues to grow, your customers and business partners expect your organization to take the responsible path. Fake it, and you will face the wrath of the marketplace and speed your way towards certain irrelevancy.”
Prior to joining Burt's Bees, Replogle was the general manager of Unilever's prestigious skin care division. He also spent eight years with Diageo as the president of Guinness Bass Import Company.
Replogle's Speaker Series appearance is sponsored by the Sam and Irene Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend with additional support from Penn State Behrend's Student Activity Fee, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Harriet Behrend Ninow Memorial Lecture Series Fund. For more information about this lecture, call the Office of Student Activities at 814-898-6171. |
